🔒 The short version: Your files never leave your browser. All PDF and image processing happens locally on your device. We cannot see, access, or store the content of your documents.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and encrypted password.

Usage data: We log which tools are used, when, and approximate file sizes (not file content) to power analytics and enforce fair usage limits. For anonymous users, we store only the IP address and tool slug.

File content: Files you upload are processed securely on our servers and deleted immediately after processing. We never store, share, or analyse the content of your documents.

2. How We Use Information

To operate your account and enforce usage limits.
To improve the Service and understand which tools are most useful.
To send password reset links (only when you request one).
To detect and prevent abuse.

3. File Processing

HailPDF uses secure server-side processing. Your files are uploaded over HTTPS, processed on our servers, and immediately deleted. Your files are:

Never uploaded to our servers.
Never transmitted over the internet.
Processed on our servers and deleted immediately after your task completes.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser localStorage to store:

Your authentication token (if logged in).
Your theme preference (light/dark mode).
Recently used tools list.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

When required by law or legal process.
To protect the rights and safety of HailPDF and its users.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained until you delete your account. Anonymous usage logs are automatically deleted based on system settings (default: 24 hours). Password reset tokens expire after 1 hour.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your account data. Contact us through the homepage to exercise these rights.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including bcrypt password hashing, JWT authentication, and HTTPS. However, no system is 100% secure.

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify registered users of significant changes via the site announcement system.
